Description:
The creative imagination plays a key role in almost every aspect of human activity and culture, from the earliest toolmaking and cave-painting through to the latest micro-technology and computer graphics. This course explores art and the imagination in the light of central features of the Christian faith - creation, fall, incarnation and redemption - and considers the artist's role in celebrating, challenging and reshaping human reality.
Instructor’s bio:
Iwan Russell-Jones (DPhil, Oxford) served on the full-time faculty at Regent College between 2011-2020, where he continues to teach part-time. Previously Dr. Russell-Jones spent 25 years as a producer and director for the BBC, in both television and radio. He produced programs and documentaries on a wide range of subjects, including the religious dimensions of Martin Luther King Jr.'s leadership of the civil rights movement and another that reflected on the contemporary meaning of the life of Christ. With the help of a team of students from Regent College he recently directed a film called Making Peace with Creation.
